No Make-Up 'Selfie' for Cancer Research

So in the last day or two there has been a craze of no make-up selfies for girls that is very much like the whole neck nomination craze. This however isn't to get completely wasted and show how bad you are at downing a pint of gross beer! Yuck! But it is to raise awareness for Cancer Research, you are nominated by a friend, post a wonderful picture of your bare/naked face and also text BEAT to 70007 which donates £3 towards the cause, you then can nominate someone or more than one person to do the same. I was nominated twice so I donated twice with a total of £6 and I am also doing the Cancer Research Race for Life 5K run, so I am raising money from that.

Here is my bare face for Cancer Research

Love me a collar!

So collars are something I have developed an unhealthy obsession for collars, they never seemed to stand out nor bother me stylistically, until I saw Zoe or also known as Zoella styling them a lot in her videos and I fell in love with how she did it. I am not one for very sexy clothing such as tight bodycon dresses, I am more skater/a-line skirts with a pretty top and shoes. I see collars giving your style a more innocent classy look no matter how to style them, which is why I love them as I like the classy-like look over a more sexy look (also I'm not one for the assets to pull much sexy appeal off)

Here is a few of my collar outfits, enjoy!

Brentwood Weekend

So I went off to the lovely Brentwood area for Valentines weekend with my good friend Nicole, to say the least it was an amazing experience and will be doing something like it very soon! So I can hear people asking what I was doing on Valentines day/weekend with Nicole going to get somewhat drunk Friday and Saturday...Well what else do single girls do!?

So lets get to the traveling aspect of this journey, I myself traveled from Ipswich and Nicole traveled from out home town Dovercourt/Harwich which is around 40 minutes train journey from Ipswich. I packed all my suitcase full of my outfits, my backpack full of my cosmetics and my Cath Kidson bag will all my essential bag things. I wore my beloved Office navy cut out heeled boots...Not a good decision! Whilst I was walking I could feel the back of my heel rubbing but thought nothing of it, I had my Primark frilly socks (A must have for these booties I have to say) So I got to the station got my tickets to Brentwood, put my stuff down to put my purse away and I then see a bloody ankle and leg of mine and also my poor boot! I panic and my train is coming so off I hobble to the train and get my suitcase all done and sit myself down the evaluate my medical emergency of my ankle. It had bled so much it was over my leg, in my boot and at the cuff of my jeans drenched! So I try and see the damage but there was too much blood around it all, thankfully Nicole is on the next stop with a plaster and I have my water and cotton buds to clean it up with, although my jeans were still holding blood and my boot is now stained with blood at the top WAH!

My 'wound' after a bit of cleaning

We arrived into Brentwood around 3-4 I honestly cannot remember at all. We booked in and like a good person I unpacked and scouted out the room, Nicole on the other hand decided to have a nap!? A nap! All the traveling must have tired her out? So after I dragged her out of bed we walked into town to check out possible bars, food places and shopping of course. Dinner we decided on Zizzi which is an Italian restaurant and the food we had was gorgeous and I am defiantly wanting to go there again soon somehow.

The next 2 nights consisted of bottles of wine, getting ready, singing, dancing, boys (I had a creepy Russian guy and another somewhat lovely normal guy, my friend got first night a guy who lied about his age and name until we went outside! How rude haha!) And Saturday was a bit of shopping, Nicole napping and me watching TV doing some university work and Sunday was the travel back home!

I had the best weekend and both me and Nicole plus some friends are off to Chelmsford soon I hope and Norwich!

Saturday Night Out - Red Lips

So I had a girls night out with my two very good friends Nicole and Kelsey. This was a drama free night full of dancing, singing and drinking...a lot.

I am starting to get better at my smokey eye look, finally I no longer look like a panda or like I've got two black eyes! I am yet to get smokier on the bottom lashes as I like the wide eye look but I may play around with make up soon to try and get to the next level.

Here are some photos before the night got messy to say!

Todays hair - HOTD

So I've recently been wearing my hair in this half up half down do, it reminds me of how I used to have my hair a lot back in the 90's! I love how voluminous your hair can look and even though my hair is relatively long it makes my hair look so much more longer and I get a lot of compliments on how long it looks.

I just grab a random section from the crown of my head, this can vary every single time, I take larger sections sometimes and others I take smaller sections, it's all down to how you feel really. I then take a backcombing comb/brush and go about my business backcombing until I'm happy, then I take a hairband and tie the ponytail, once again backcomb at the base of the ponytail for even more volume and around where you can see the parting so that is hidden and for even more volume. I finally add some hairspray and salt spray for texture as I'm not a lover of sleek straight hair, I love messy texture with my hair as my face seems to carry it off a lot better I'm told..?

L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

This foundation has to be on my list of favourite foundations to say the least!

This foundation claims to be 'super-blendable' and 'matches skin colour and texture' Along with saying that in 2 weeks your skin will look healthier, smoother and more even from using it, also a beautiful flawless-looking complexion..You're skin only better.

I only got this foundation because I got a voucher to have so much money of it and this was really the only massive incentive to buy this product, although I am glad I did buy it for that reason as L'Oreal will be having me back to their display very soon to try out other products! Well done L'Oreal!

The packaging is in a glass bottle with a pump, to me a pump is key as I have no special technique using a foundation without a pump, it just goes everywhere and I end up loosing a lot of product. The foundation I do this a lot with, although I have managed to not do it so much is my Revlon ColourStay. I love this foundation and I will do a review on that soon, but without a pump I wasted so much to begin with. Boo.

Now onto the foundation itself and to see if it lives up to the description.  I agree that it is super-blendable, this glides onto the skin and even though I did get a shade that was probably a slight bit too dark when I put it on my skin and compared it to my skin on my face and neck, but I personally don't want to have my TRUE shade as I would be a walking white ghost! So I have the shade N2 Vanille which is still a very light shade as this range has an amazing range of colours, if I got my real shade I'd be around Nude Ivory but I would be too light for my liking.

So when blending this possibly too dark shade onto my face and neck it blends seamlessly! It looks scary at first and you think oh...But then you start blending and it's basically gone (not the foundation, the scary darkness)

I'm not sure about the healthier, smoother, evening effect it claims to give you after 2 weeks as I don't use foundation every single day. I may try and see about it this but putting foundation on everyday when I don't need to seems pointless to me really.

Overall I love this foundation and will be repurchasing it once this has emptied and I am very proud to say it does do the things it says on the packaging.

Excuse the mess of a student and photography student! It will be tidy soon.

Back to university!

So I'm now back at university after a lovely 3 week break, well it was hardly a break as I worked almost everyday at my work place and had university work to crack on with! The work never stops!

But today was something that I am prone to and didn't come to surprise me when it happened. I did in fact blow the fuse in my whole entire flat, this meant all 4 rooms had no electricity what so ever, our corridor lights didn't come on with the sensor and our kitchen was completely gone.

I managed to do this by simply trying to cook my lunch, happy as I was cooking away and then all of a sudden one of the hobs button things blew up and sparks came flying out of it, letting a scream out and jumping back in shock and horror I walked into the corridor to then find myself in complete darkness, I then went back into the kitchen and messaged my flat mate saying "I think I blew something up, are you in the flat?"

A few minutes later after we tried to fix the problem ourselves looking at the circuit box, we decided to phone down to reception and explain what I had done..rather embarrassing to say the least! So the lovely man came and had a look to see the damage I had produced, the verdict was I blew up that certain hob plate (we are getting a brand new one) our extractor fan had also gone or I may have even blown that too, but that was too indeed fixed as was our corridor light that had been broken before I did any of this!
